Reiki (pronounced 'ray-key') is the unseen energy that flows through all living things and directly affects the quality of a person’s health. It has been part of the wisdom of many cultures since ancient times. This life energy goes by many names: qi in China, ki in Japan, and prana in India. Science refers to it as biofield energy. When your life energy is low, it is more difficult to deal with stress; you may not sleep well, and you’re more susceptible to illness. When your life energy is strong, you feel strong, can more easily deal with stress, and are less likely to get sick. Reiki is a technique that increases a person’s supply of life energy. This space offers you time to just ‘be’ and focus on your inner environment. Reiki energy allows your muscles to relax, increases blood flow to treated areas, therefore quickening the healing process by moving your body's stagnant energy and enabling stress reduction.

In my Reiki session you will be welcomed in and given time to settle and get comfortable. You will have an initial chat with me to assess your current state of well-being and determine areas of focus for the session.
You will lie fully clothed on a comfortable massage table, listening to the sounds of relaxing Reiki music as well as the natural sounds of birds chirping outside the window, and the crackling of a log fire. All complimented with the addition of wonderful calming aromas and flickering candle light. You are encouraged to wear comfortable clothing to ensure maximum relaxation throughout the session.

During the Reiki treatment, I will place my hands on your body, focusing on locations around the head, shoulders, abdomen, back, knees and feet. My warm and comforting hands are simply held at each location allowing the energy to flow (unblocking any stagnant energy). This is a gentle treatment, tissue is not manipulated in any way.
During the treatment you may experience various sensations of heat, coolness, tingling and it's not uncommon to experience visual manifestations (i.e. seeing colours, images etc). You may also relax so much that you fall asleep, and that's completely acceptable, I'm used to it!

Once the session is complete, you are welcomed to stay for a cup of herbal tea, and meander with me around the garden to fully embody the treatment.
​
The session usually consists of a full hour of treatment with some time either side, where appropriate, for a chat and a cup of tea.

I’ve been to see Paula for regular Reiki sessions over the last 2 months. Paula’s approach is consistently professional and compassionate. She creates a warm, safe environment within which I can surrender to myself and the movement of energy.
