Come and celebrate Imbolc with wild food, wild fermentation, wild crafting, wild teas and fire circle, right here at Paula's Place!
Join Vicky and I, at my home in Taynuilt, for this special celebration.
Imbolc, literally translated, means "In the belly" and refers to the time when the Ewe's belly would start to grow as her lamb developed inside her.
For our ancestors, this was a turning point in the year, when the days were slowly becoming longer and many plants began to gently awake from their winter slumber, gifting the promise of regeneration and much needed nutrients after a long dark winter.
Join us to celebrate this turn of the wheel, feasting on wild foods, wildcrafting, wild fermentation, wild herbal teas, a fire circle and a master class on ancestral fire lighting.
During our session we will learn;
-
The art of wild fermentation
-
How to light a fire using ancestral techniques
-
How to forage for wild food, medicine and wild crafting materials safely and sustainably
-
Foraging and the law
-
How to identify a wide variety of wild plants
-
How to make wild teas, infusions and tinctures
-
How to make the most of our common kitchen herbs
-
How to connect with the Earth on a deeper, more meaningful level

All equipment will be provided for the day. You just need to book your place and turn up!
You will leave with two jars of your own wild crafted ferments and will receive a follow-up email detailing how to look after your ferments and all the plants we met or discussed on the day, along with a list of other resources.

We will start our day with a wild snack and a hot herbal infusion.
-
We shall then head outdoors to see what wild plants are starting to emerge to go into our wild ferments.
-
We shall take a delve in to the folklore surrounding the Rowan tree, which is the sacred Celtic tree of this time of year.
-
Rowan represents courage, wisdom and protection and we shall be attaching intentions to her branches to be carried by the wind out in to the world.
-
We shall then head back indoors to enjoy a wild feast together, when you will get the opportunity to blend your own herbal brews to go with your meal.
-
After our feast we shall set up our work stations and select which wild plants we would like to add to our ferments.
-
We shall be making a basic sauerkraut and fermented salsa and Vicky will be on hand to advise which wild flavours would work best in the ferments.
-
After our wild crafting we shall head outdors again to light the fire where you shall have the opportunity to try lighting a variety of natural material using traditional methods, again, with Vicky on hand to guide you.
-
We shall end our day with a fire circle, honouring ourselves, loved ones and the ancestors.
